1. Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater

Located just a short 30 minute drive from Denver, Red Rocks Park should definitely be at the top of your itinerary. Take a drive or a hike through stunning red rock formations while taking in sweeping views of the Front Range. While you are there, stop at the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, a naturally formed open-air amphitheater that has hosted the biggest and best musicians in the world. 2. Union Station

A National Historic Landmark built in 1881, Denver’s Union Station will make you feel like you are stepping back in time. Once a hub for pioneers and travelers visiting the Old West throughout the 20th century, Union Station now offers an eclectic array of some of Denver’s top restaurants, bars and shops. 3. Mt. Evans Scenic Byway

To catch some of the best views in Colorado, including the Continental Divide and towering 14,000 foot peaks, a drive along the Mt. Evans Scenic Byway is the way to go. This winding mountain road will take you through the pristine forests and towering granite cliffs of the the Mt. Evans Wilderness. During the summer, this road will even take you all the way to the top of Mt. Evans, a 14,265 foot peak. In fact, Mt. Evans is one of only two peaks in the United States taller than 14,000 feet that you can drive to to the top of.

4. Larimer Square

For some of the best dining and shopping in downtown Denver, a stroll around Larimer Square won’t disappoint. This historic block dates back to 1858, the year Denver was founded, and is lined by many of the original buildings built towards the late 19th century. 5. Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Denver Zoo

If you plan on hitting up some of Denver’s museums while you are in town, be sure to add the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to the top of your list. This museum is considered one of the premier natural history museums of the western United States. Colorado is famous for its natural resources and history -  including its dinosaur fossils, archeological sites, and wildlife - and this museum provides a variety of excellent exhibits, programs, and activities for your to learn about it.

Just a short walk or drive from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is the Denver Zoo. This wonderful zoo encompasses 84 acres that houses over 3,000 animals from all over the world. This is a great place to explore before or after a trip to the Nature and Science Museum for a full day of the best Denver has to offer.
